Last week we focused on health and well being. This week the focus is on self-care, self-esteem and self confidence. Peter Willis, a best selling author and International training coach from the UK says that self care is "...intrinsically linked to your self-esteem and self- confidence,." That really resonated with me. He said, “... people with high self-esteem and self-confidence value themselves as much as others and recognize that unless they take care of themselves, they’ll diminish the contribution they make to others. It’s like the often quoted airline analogy about putting on your own mask first, before attempting to assist anyone else.
With that in mind, today’s affirmation is:
When I take better care of myself, I can take better care of others
To truly take care of yourself, you have to love yourself fully. You have to accept yourself as you are and honor your physical, mental and spiritual needs. It means being attentive to your diet and exercise routines, as well as the number of hours of sleep you get. It's about making choices that align with your values so that you can protect your self esteem and grow your confidence, which is what happens when you take care of yourself.
